Membership Requirements

The Minnesota Surgical Society, an American College of Surgeons Chapter, would like to invite you to become a member! It’s your membership that will continue to let the Chapter focus on important issues facing Minnesota surgeons. MSS offers the following membership categories. Any qualified applicant may become a member by paying the appropriate dues and completing the application.

Classes of Members

The Chapter shall have four classes of members: active, affiliate, retired, and resident. The qualifications for membership in the respective classes is as follows:



Active Members:

Active members shall be Fellows and Associate Fellows of the American College of Surgeons residing or practicing in the state of Minnesota who apply for membership in the Chapter and agree to comply with its bylaws.

Active Members: $175



Affiliate Members:

Affiliate members shall be licensed registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and pharmacists who are members of the American College of Surgeons residing or practicing in the field of surgery who apply for membership in the Chapter and agree to comply with its bylaws. Affiliate members are not eligible for Board leadership positions and are not allowed to vote on Society business. Their membership dues are less than that of Active members as determined by the Board.

Affiliate Members: $125



Retired Members:

Any retired members in good standing, having attained the age of 65 years, shall, upon application to the secretary, be transferred to retired membership status. Retired members shall not be required to pay dues but are urged to continue active participation in the scientific and social affairs of the Society.

Retired Members: $50



Resident Members:

Resident members consist of all residents and fellows participating in accredited surgery training programs throughout the state. Membership affords nonvoting privileges and facilitates participation in the Society while awaiting completion of The American Board of Surgery Certification. Membership is free to residents who are currently employed and in good standing in an accredited training program in the state of Minnesota.
